This course aims to inculcate in students the ability to view society through multifaceted cognitive methods and design problem-solving institutions.
Students admitted to the social science course learn about the customs and institutions created by human beings through the four programs described here. First, the economic theory program simplifies phenomena and examines relationships between economic actors. Second, the economic policy program deliberates on social systems through regional issues. Third, the management and accounting program considers internal and external corporate structures enabling continuous corporate activities. Finally, the legal studies program proposes solutions to social problems based on an understanding of the views and values of diverse people.
Each of these programs approaches social issues from a different perspective. This program aims to develop human resources with the ability to acquire a multifaceted cognitive mindset by learning how to think through the viewpoints of diverse academic disciplines. Such a workforce can recognize discrete social problems and design systems that can resolve them.
Students in the economic theory program are expected to rethink social institutions from the perspective of economic rationality. They study a range of specialized subjects that simplify phenomena, examine the relationships between rational players in the economy, and apply the acquired course-based knowledge to complex real-world problems. This program instills in students the ability to think logically, consider, and propose appropriate measures to tackle problems.
The economic policy program aims for students to consider social systems by focusing on fiscal, welfare, and regional issues. It addresses specific issues related to contemporary social systems through fiscal, welfare, and regional concerns. Students will develop the ability to respond to and analyze issues at discrete sites in diverse regions by studying specific policy issues and policy measures from an economic perspective: for instance, declining birthrates, aging populations, local industries, welfare schemes, and public finance.
The management and accounting program is designed to enhance professional skills in students; it also enables them to identify and solve problems occurring in corporate activities. Students consider internal company-based mechanisms that facilitate ongoing corporate activities and acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of factors necessary for the maintenance of external relationships and regulations. Students also learn about management and accounting theories to enhance their expertise and develop their problem-solving abilities.
This program entails the systematic study of legal and political systems through wide-ranging topics. Students review diverse humanities and social sciences disciplines before taking specialized courses in constitutional law, civil law, commercial law, and political science. Besides acquiring knowledge, students attain a keen sense of human rights and hone the ability to propose solutions to real social problems through field research and visits to facilities.
