主な授業題目と内容紹介

The study of Intercultural Communication (ICC) is foundational in any language program. ICC prepares language learners to develop a critical awareness of how their own communicative patterns influence communication with people from other cultures. ICC is an interdisciplinary field, drawing from anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and communication studies all of which are important for language learners. In my ICC and Comparative Culture classes, there is a constant negotiation of focus between the specialized course content and the English language needs of my students. Language learning activities involve analysis of authentic spoken texts, listening tasks, and development of writing skills. ICC content themes include pragmatics, nonverbal communication, ICC competence, cross-cultural interaction, and analysis of communicative culture.
